Oscillations is a long-form sound collage composed by Zach Cooper (King Garbage, RVNG Intl., Styles Upon Styles) that splices analog cassette and vinyl manipulation experiments, improvised live performance recordings, and musical interpretations of graphic and event scores -- performed by King Garbage and the participants of School of the Alternative, on the former grounds of Black Mountain College in rural North Carolina. In Oscillations, Cooper strikes a compositional medium between chaos, warmth, boundless energy, eeriness, and restraint. The album harnesses the fluidity and rebellion against structure that characterizes the School of the Alternative’s experimental artist residency program, influenced by the legendary Black Mountain College.

Oscillations is a limited edition cassette, as well as an exclusive songbook -- an anthology of graphic scores and event scores from the artists of School of the Alternative, curated and designed by Tina Carlisi and Emilía Turner. Each copy of Oscillations includes a cassette, songbook, and one-of-a-kind mica stone harvested from the wilderness of Black Mountain, NC. Each package is a unique, numbered edition of 50. Oscillations will also be available as a digital download via Bandcamp and for streaming across all platforms.
